What is Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?

Platelet therapy or plasma therapy is also generally known as platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP). PRP is most concisely defined as a volume of plasma that contains a concentrate of platelets (PLT) above that of baseline blood levels. PRP is prepared through a process known as differential centrifugation, in which the acceleration force applied during centrifugation separates the cellular components (plasma, white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets) based upon differences of their specific gravity, or weight. It is an autologous blood product, meaning it comes from you, which can be injected into virtually any damaged area of the body to deliver growth factors (PDGF) to promote healing and stimulate the body’s healing and immune systems to activate. Many view the therapy as a holistic treatment methodology.

How does it work?
TruDOSE platelet therapy helps to reinvigorate healing pathways by using your platelet's own natural healing abilities. Platelets are responsible for a number of different important functions within the body, not just blood clotting. Namely, they are important signaling cells that work to monitor and alert the body of any tissue damage to prompt the appropriate repair and immunologic responses. For patient's with chronic disease, their bodies have undergone significant damage over time, and by providing your body with a concentrated dose of its own platelets, it allows those platelets to take a second look at the damage that has occurred and re-activate healing pathways.
What improvements can I expect?

When you receive the treatment, your platelets will prompt the healing cascade within the brain, heart, lungs, and kidneys before working its way to less essential organs and tissues. You may be seeking treatment to help with a specific symptom, but your body will likely have other ideas as to where you need healing done first. Rarely does anyone not experience benefits from a TruDOSE IV treatment, and most patients will notice some kind of positive change within the first 10 days post-therapy. It is important for patients to track all of their symptoms after they have received the treatment to be able to monitor progress as improvements often occur where we least expect them!

What happens during my appointment?
1
Blood Sample
A small, fingerstick sample of the patient's blood is obtained and analyzed to determine the exact dosage required for your treatment.
2
Preparation
Your blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma that will be used in the treatment.
3
Administration
You receive an infusion and are carefully monitored to ensure the treatment is effective, well-tolerated, and fits into the your individualized treatment plan.
5
Healing!
4
Follow Up
You are provided with detailed instructions dictating what you should be doing after the treatment and when to next discuss with your provider.
